วันนี้ (จันทร์ 14 กุมภาพันธ์ 2011) AFS-USA ได้ส่ง email มา มีข้อความระบุถึงสภาคองเกรซ และวุฒิสภา อาจจะมีการตัดงบประมาณสนับสนุนโครงการแลกเปลี่ยนในสหรัฐอเมริกาลง 21% ดังนั้น AFS ซึ่งเป็นสมาชิกของ Alliance for International Education and Cultural Exchange และสมาชิกในเครือข่าย ได้รวบรวมรายชื่อคัดค้านการพิจารณางบประมาณกลาง ของรัฐบาลสหรัฐฯ ในครั้งนี้

ถ้าน้อง ๆ 49 ที่อยู่ในสหรัฐอเมริกา ต้องระบุที่อยู่ของตัวเองในสหรัฐอเมริกาด้วย ส่วน Returnee คนไหนต้องการ email ต้นฉบับ เพื่อ Forward ไปให้กับโฮสของตัวเอง กรุณาส่ง email มาขอได้ที่ [email protected]
ผลที่คาดว่าจะเกิดขึ้น หากแผนงบประมาณนี้ "ผ่าน" สภา
1. อาจจะต้องมีการเก็บเงินสนับสนุนโครงการเพิ่ม
2. เงินสนับสนุนที่จะลงมาทาง Area Team อาจจะลดน้อยลง เป็นผลให้อาจจะต้องลดกิจกรรม Orientation ลง หรือลดการทำกิจกกรมกลุ่มลง
3. อาจจะมีการ "ลด"การลดหย่อนภาษี ให้กับครอบครัวอุปถัมภ์จากปกติ ซึ่งอาจจะทำให้การหาโฮสยิ่งยากลำบากขึ้น

Starting tomorrow, international exchange programs are facing drastic cuts in federal funding.
Debate on a House bill proposing a 21% cut to the State Department's exchange programs budget is expected to begin Tuesday, February 15. While the future of this bill remains in doubt, experts say it is "very unlikely" that Congress will figure out how to pay for programs for the rest of this year before funding runs out.
